Strictly Come Dancing star Chris McCausland has been supported by fans after sharing some ‘unfortunate’ news.

The comedian, 47, made history on Saturday night as he became the first blind person to win the beloved BBC competition, taking home the glitterball trophy with pro dancer Dianne Buswell.

He beat Miranda actress Sarah Hadland and partner Vito Coppola, Love Island star Tasha Ghouri and dancer Aljaz Skorjanec and JLS singer JB Gill and partner Lauren Oakley, later saying: ‘This is for [Dianne] and for everyone who was told they couldn’t do something. With opportunity, support and determination anything can happen.’

Following the end of Strictly, it was revealed several of the celebrities and professional dancers would be reuniting for the 2025 live tour, including Amy Dowden, who returned to Strictly this year after taking series 19 out for breast cancer treatment, but was forced to drop out within weeks over a leg injury.

However, Chris has now shared the unfortunate news that he won’t be joining in, though his partner Dianne will be, as well as finalists Sarah and Vito, JB, Lauren and Amy, and Tasha and Aljaz.

Taking to X on Monday, Chris wrote: ‘I’m afraid I will not be able to do the Strictly tour.

‘My own tour was meant to be on the road in September and a lot of dates were moved to Jan and Feb to accommodate doing #Strictly.

‘It’s unfortunate as it’s been so much fun, but my own dates can’t be moved for a second time.’

Despite the bad news, his followers flocked to support him, with many sharing they already had their tickets for his tour.

‘As one, who does not watch any reality shows, can I just say that you have enriched so many people with your extraordinary talent and spirit, that I was watching your astonishing performance with tears running down my face, at the same time as block voting for you and Dianne. XX,’ Jim added.

Chris said he is ‘feeling quite worn down’ after winning Strictly (Picture: Guy Levy/BBC/PA Wire)

This comes after Chris said he is ‘feeling quite worn down’ after winning Strictly, which he described as ‘relentless’.

Speaking on ITV’s Lorraine, he said: ‘You know what, it’s been a really emotional Saturday night, and I’m still kind of feeling quite worn down by it, three-and-a-half months, it’s relentless.

‘It’s consuming, physically and mentally, it takes its toll.

‘And this is what this show does, it wears you down physically and mentally, and then it pokes you with a stick until you cry in front of everybody.’

The Liverpool-born star continued: ‘It consumes you in terms of needing earlier bedtimes, in terms of your mind being exhausted when you’re at home and you’re constantly counting your steps around the house.’

He said that now he had left the show he would have to cut down on the amount of chocolate he ate.

Chris continued: ‘You just eat what you want, because I know that I’m burning more calories than what I’m consuming, and I’ve eaten more chocolate this last three-and-a-half months now than I’d eat in 10 Christmases, and I’ve got to stop it.

‘Because if I carry on eating the way I’ve been eating, I’ll have a burger for a Tuesday lunch, who has a burger for a Tuesday lunch? And if I carry on I’ll just explode.

‘It’s a lifestyle that it’s got to change, because the dancing will not continue at that rate.’

Strictly Come Dancing is available to watch from BBC iPlayer.

Lorraine airs weekdays from 10am on ITV1.
