LINING UP

It looks like winger Nick Cousins will remain out of the Senators’ lineup Saturday against the Kings. Michael Amadio moved to the third line to skate alongside Cole Reinhardt and Shane Pinto during Friday’s practice. Ridly Greig was bumped down to the fourth line, where it’s expected he’ll play Saturday with Noah Gregor and Zack Ostapchuk.

BRANDT LOOKS GOOD

Defenceman Brandt Clarke, who’s from Nepean, is making a big impression with the Kings. Selected in the first round of the 2021 draft (eighth overall) from the Barrie Colts of the Ontario Hockey League, Clarke, now 21, made his National Hockey League debut in the 2022-23 season, got a bit of a look last season and is looking good in full-time duty this year.

Clarke got his 13th assist of the season (three goals and 13 assists) Friday against Anaheim. He is one of only two Kings defensemen age 21 or younger with at least a dozen assists in a single season in the past 30 years. The other: Drew Doughty, who did it three times, including 43 in 2009-10). Among defencemen selected in the 2021 draft, Clarke is now one assist ahead of Buffalo’s Owen Power for the most through the first quarter of this season.

THE HISTORY

The Senators beat the Kings 8-7 in overtime on home ice a month and a half ago, but the Kings have a nine-game point streak (6-0-3) against the Senators dating back to Nov. 7, 2019.
