TiEcon Kerala plays a pivotal role in driving the state’s progress in entrepreneurship. The government is fully committed to supporting initiatives like these, which foster innovation and business growth, State Revenue Minister, K Rajan has said.

He was inaugurating the TiE Award Ceremony on the concluding day of the Kerala’s largest conference on entrepreneurship ‘TiEcon Kerala – 2024’.

He lauded the conference for providing a platform to mould and inspire the youth, aligning with TiE’s core philosophy of creating “an entrepreneur in every home.”

According to the Minister, the state has made significant strides in creating a favourable environment for entrepreneurs, with new policy reforms and dedicated schemes introduced across various sectors.

Rajan highlighted the recent introduction of the Land Registry Act in December 2023, which further simplified entrepreneurs’ processes, enhancing transparency and accessibility. Kerala has emerged as one of the top states in the country for its industry-friendly policies, having successfully implemented all eight key indicators required to nurture a business-friendly environment, he said.

Empowering Innovation via Policy Disruption: K T Rama Rao, the former IT and Industries Minister, Telangana, emphasized the critical role of policy disruption in fostering entrepreneurship.

True innovation should not only be reflected in startups or youth-led ventures but must also be embedded in state policies to create an entrepreneur-friendly ecosystem, Rao said.

Rao highlighted that for a state to truly support entrepreneurs, it must streamline the process of starting a business. Entrepreneurs should reach a point where they can self-approve their ventures.

KT Rama Rao also shared his vision for Kerala, urging the state to create local entrepreneurial opportunities by harnessing a blend of mentor networks, government support, and its thriving tourism sector.

TiE Awards: The TiE Kerala Awards were presented recognizing outstanding contributions across six key categories:  Entrepreneur of the Year: Sabu Johny, Managing Director, EVM Group of Companies (Automobile Division); Next-Gen Entrepreneur: George Muthoot Jacob, Deputy Managing Director, Muthoot Finance Limited; Ecosystem Enabler: K.
