Texas A&M’s 2025 spring football season ended on Saturday afternoon after the conclusion of the annual Maroon & White spring game, which featured several storylines, including the rise of freshman edge rusher Marco Jones, who recorded five sacks and six tackles for loss on the day.

Still, the offense took center stage amid the additions of wide receivers KC Concepcion, Mario Craver, and Jonah Wilson, who all made plays on Saturday. At the same time, Concepcion looks like the No. 1 receiving option next season.

However, Craver’s 17 and 29-yard receptions are highly impressive, showcasing a player with plenty of speed, acceleration, and soft hands to become the No. 2 guy for starting quarterback Marcel Reed in 2025. Starting for the Maroon team, which lost 19-7, Reed had his moments, including ending his impressive second-half drive with a touchdown pass to Ashton Bethel-Roman.

However, due to several O-line starters sitting out, Reed’s interior blocking was less than stellar, leading to a ton of scrambles, which didn’t go anywhere due to the spring non-contact rules. Still, the redshirt sophomore looked bigger and more confident, and star cornerback Will Lee III was equally impressed during the post-game press conference.

“The confidence. I talk to the offensive line, and they say it’s different. He is leading those guys. He is holding the weight on his shoulders.”

“He’s got that dog in him, for sure.”

It’s fair for the Aggie fan base to be split on Marcel Reed as Texas A&M’s starting quarterback for the future, but the job is his to lose this season. I can safely say that with the added confidence Lee spoke about, Reed’s accuracy and downfield vision are the next steps to becoming a good SEC quarterback who can be why the Aggies win games in 2025.
